.The following is a portion of the first part of the Cinnamon Stick - "In the Beginning".  This section is called "The Rise of a Rage".

Religious leaders in these early days were known to use ointments and incense for a special sacraments and caring for the dead.  Spices were prized as medicines, perfumes, flavorings and of fumigants.  Since they were so scarce, only religious leaders were rich enough to purchase such aromatics.  When Arabs brought the new rare spices to the markets, they were valued so highly that they were traded for gold, silver and jewels.  We can understand why these spices were such a treeasure, a recipe found in the Bible of sacred oils and incense was used by the holly men of the temples, to anoint and bless holy items.

Exodus 30: 22-24.  Moreover, the Lord said to Moses.  Take the finest spices; or liquid myrrh 500 shekel, and of the sweet smelling cinnamon half as much, that of 250, and  of cassia 500, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a bin and you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil blended as by a perfumer, a holy anointing oil it shall be.

                    CANDLES MADE EASY
(This is a craft items found in the second part of  the book.  In early times candles were the only means of home lighting.)

Here is an easy way to make candles for just a special purpose with color you want to match your decor.  Use a double boiler or another way is to clean a tin can medium size.  Shave or cut candle wax or old candles into this can.  If you are planning a special color add crayons to your wax to get the desired shade.  Place your can in a pan of simmering hot water.  Stir the wax until all is melted.  Remember the finished candles will be a lighter shade than the melted wax.  After wax has melted you can add drops of essence of cinnamon, rose, lavender or any scent you prefer.  Prepare containers either glass or ceramic and use purchased prepared wicks from a craft store.  The wicks may have a weighted bottom to help keep the wick in center of finished candle.  If using un-weighted widks, anchor it to the center of your container with a few drops of melted wax.  Lay a pencil across the container to hold your wick in place.  When your wax has melted handle the tin of hot wax very carefully using  hot mitts and slowly pour wax into your container. Let sit until firm and your candles will be ready for just the right place and scent.
